Can you imagine going on your menstrual cycle without having access to sanitary pads?

This is the situation being experienced by many young girls and women in the country’s prison.

Wadzanai Trust founder Wadzanai Gumbo said this as she appealed for sanitary pads for female prisoners.

“Due to the lockdown, we cannot make usable sanitary pads we really ask for individuals, stakeholders, partners, companies, corporate world and friends around the world to keep on donating, this time things are difficult,” she said.

Gumbo added that dropping a packet of sanitary pads meant a lot to these girls and women.

“Any form of donations are most appreciated,” she said.

“As the trust, we urge people to careful not to rely on any news as most of it was fake, but to seek information from reliable health authorities and also desisting not spreading fake news,” she said.

She added that the nation should adhere to what the government is saying and health official are saying and to stay safe at home.

Wadzanai Trust aims to provide free sanitary wear to orphans, young and underprivileged women of child bearing age in Zimbabwe.

They equip them with skills and know-how to manufacture the usable sanitary wear and provide women with raw materials to use in the manufacturing.
